Can two tortoise live together. In the wild tortoises live relatively solitary lives. They usually come together for breeding purposes but live most of their lives alone. Female tortoises may guard their nests but they do not protect or raise their babies.
That means even very young tortoises naturally live on their own. Different tortoise species can live together as long as all of their different needs are fulfilled. A problem that could arise is that tortoises are not usually friendly towards each other but this is a general characteristic of tortoises it has nothing to do with the difference in species.
Do Not Keep Tortoises of Different Sizes Together. A larger territorial tortoise particularly a male has the potential to be a real threat to a smaller tortoise simply because theres no contest when it comes to the two fighting and fight they will. RF tortoises may be the exception to the rule.
They sometimes do ok living in either pairs or males together. Youll just have to try it and see. Just remember your existing tortoise has established that hes living in HIS territory and any new animal you add to it may be seen as something to chase out of the territory.
Tortoises should not be kept in pairs. A trio of young juveniles or a group of one adult male and two or more females will probably be fine in an enclosure that size. Tortoises and chameleons should not live together and tend to be happy living by themselves.
It is challenging to keep tortoises and chameleons together because they have different dietary and temperature requirements. Like all reptiles they are also susceptible to. Putting opposite-sex reptiles together 24-7 can mean trouble – but so can same-sex cohabitation.
Chameleons prefer to live alone with the male staying with the female only for a short time to mate. If you put two male chameleons together fighting will likely ensue. Male iguanas might not just attack other males but also humans.
Tortoises probably do not get lonely they tend to be solitary reptiles. The Arizona Department of Game Fish only allows one tortoise per household so being a caretaker for several tortoises is not possible. My tortoise loves to eat fruit especially bananas melon and grapes.
He also likes lettuce and he will eat our dogs food.
