ST6000DX000 has the lowest annualized failure rate of just 023 with HGSTs 4TB drive model. The IronWolf NAS models deliver slightly better performance compared to the WD Red due to the 7200RPM nature but have correspondingly higher.
4 18TB Interface.
Ironwolf vs wd red failure rate. Seagate IronWolf 6-12 TB Seagate IronWolf 4 TB WD Red 8-12 TB WD Red 4 TB 247 operation.
Max sustained data transfer rate. Up to 8-bay or rack mounted. The Ironwolf drives should be good.
Seagate mostly got a bad rep because of their 3TB ST3000DM001 model that had a 30 annual failure rate. Later models seem to be doing not significantly worse than the competition. That being said Im still kinda nervous about such large drives.
When a drive fails and at some point in time that WILL happen and you replace it its not uncommon for a second drive to fail. 3 drives with 1014 each is 3x1014 375TB yes 12375 32 which is very high in terms of failure rate also going back to Ironwolf the 6TB drives are rated as 1015 thats 125TB not 1000TB as I thought the URE is in bytes but turns out it is in bits.
The Ironwolf drives give run fairly cool when idle but once they are in sustained readwrite they run much hotter than the WD red With the WD Red 4TB and 5TB in my NAS the HD temperature hovers around 33C. With the Ironwolf idle is slightly lower but with sustained readwrite the temperature easily bcomes 49C.
Sustained Transfer Rate when IronWolf has 7200 rpm of spindle speed as standard from 6TB capacity entire WD Red line has 5400 rpm only both Pro series have same 7200 rpm of spindle speed for all capacity values same drive bay suppor t or limitation in case of guarantee. 146TB raw StableBit DrivePool 11 mirroredDuplication 5 years ago.
WD is awesome and Seagate drives fail like maxtors. That said I completely agree. Also the Seagate NAS drives get a bit better performance 10-20MBs and run at about 5C cooler than the WD.
Seagate IronWolf Pro NAS. 4 18TB Interface. SATA 6 Gbs Cache.
Up to 256MB Spindle Speed. 7200RPM Mean Time Between Failure MTBF. 12 Million Hours Warranty.
Offers plenty of capacity options. Perfect for RAID solution. Suitable for almost any use.
Comes with a 3-year recovery service. I bought two IronWolf 8TB drives recently and was extremely disappointed with them. Their performance is excellent far better than the 8TB WD Reds I also bought which is to be expected due to the RPM difference as well as the HGST 8TB drives I bought which was surprising since those are also 7200RPM but they performed much closer to the Reds than the IronWolfs.
But I found that the drives.
416 MB in 301 seconds 13839 MBsec. Ergebnis für die Seagate Ironwolf 4TB. The IronWolf NAS models deliver slightly better performance compared to the WD Red due to the 7200RPM nature but have correspondingly higher.
The WD Blue is a quality drive superior to a WD Red which should have lasted well in your NAS. Your failure rate of both Blue and Red is insane and should indicate a serious system issue.
I have since bought a WD Duo home 6 TB RAID which has 2 WD NAS Red ext.
Drives and a WD 8 TB RAID with two 4 TB RED NAS drives. I was cautioned against using the Cloud and one of its sub-companies because the fires on the west coast and the storms on the east coast put some doubt into its dependability. Yes this is the real reason the Seagates Ironwolfs are cheaper then the WD Reds they simply had to buy lost market share back due to loss of reputation basicly theres are lot of us out here millions who would hesitate to buy a Seagate over the other brands if the prices were the same from the sht that they caused us with those bad ones they had so they have to offer something to make us.
As visible from the below graph the Seagate 6TB drive model.
ST6000DX000 has the lowest annualized failure rate of just 023 with HGSTs 4TB drive model. HMS5C4040ALE640 4TB drive model. HMS5C4040BLE640 8TB drive model.
HUH728080ALE600 and 12TB drive model. HUH721212ALE600 not far behind with annualized failure rates of 027 027 029 and 031. Its capacity ranges from 1TB to 10 TB.
It sacrifices speed runs at 5400 RPM for extreme reliability. Every WD Red has vibration protection system. Based on WD Red WD Red Pro adds a few advantages.
