Contact the American Racing Pigeon Union in Oklahoma City with the full information on the band and they should be able to help identify the owner. I dont know the name but I bet you could find it if you searched.

What should you do if you find a homing pigeon. A homing or racing pigeon should have an identification band on its leg. If you find a lost fancy pigeon and it will not fly away please give it some food and water. Wild bird seed or brown rice will be fine along with an old margarine tub for water. Pigeons can be contained in a cat box or dog crate or even a cardboard box with holes in for ventilation.

I like any color of pigeon but i like homing pigeons more because im amazed by what they can do. You can train them and release them and they are able to come homethats what got me into themive always liked them as a little girl but i never knew anything about them until nowthat they can do all these great things that other birds cant doi have almost all common colors that you can find. If so then you can contact the owner direct. To take care of a lost pigeon seek urgent care from an avian veterinarian if the pigeon is shaking bleeding or vomiting or if youve found a baby pigeon. Racing pigeons are pretty neat. I found a record for a racing pigeon that flew 102 miles at just over 100 miles per. Popcorn maize rice split peas barley buckwheat kasha canary seed etc are all good first options to feed a found bird with.
