Whats the difference between a holland lop and mini lop. One prominent difference that exists between Holland lops and mini lops is size. Although it might sound like it would be the opposite way around Holland lops are the smaller of the two. Holland lops generally weigh between 25 and 35 pounds with mini lops sometimes doubling them in that department.
Mini lops often weigh around 65 pounds. They have full thick fluffy cheeks. Their nose is slightly sharp and protrudes more than Holland lop rabbits.
The ears of mini lops are longer than the Holland lops. They are also different in temperament with each other. Holland is a small sized dwarf rabbit and weigh around 4 lbs whereas mini lops are known as basketballs having a head on top.
The Holland lops are wide and have compact body shape. The Mini Lop makes an excellent pet for families with children and seniors. This breed is often described as being a basketball with a head That it to say that the ideal Mini Lop should have a round body with thick depth long thick ears and a large head.
Mini Lops have a luxurious soft medium-length rollback coat. They do not require much care in the grooming department. We sometimes have people come to our rabbitry to pick up their Mini Lop and they are surprised by the full grown size of the parents of the rabbit.
They were envisioning a dwarf size rabbit. Miniature Lops are not a dwarf breed. Though called Miniature Lops they are not the smallest of the lop breeds.

Like ladysown said this is assuming you buy a show quality bunny. The Holland has a maximum showable weight of 4 pounds. The Mini Lops show weight is between 4 12 pounds and 6 12 pounds.
The show quality Holland does pose sitting up but there are a lot of Hollands that are rug munchers or are oversized. So if you are dealing with pet quality rather than a show quality animal you cant be sure. A mini lop is 5-7 lbs and a Holland lop is less than 4 lbs.
Both of them are equally adorable. Mini lops have longer ears that will go past their chin while Holland lops ears stop at the chin. I have a holland and hes not snuggly hes cute and fun but if you try to pet him he usually runs off in a huff.
My mini lop is very snuggly. On the other hand Ive known people who have extremely snuggly hollands so its really impossible to predict. I know a woman who has many hollands and she claims theyre the most active buns shes ever met while my holland is one of the laziest Ive met.
The main difference between a regular Holland Lop and a Mini Holland Lop at least visually is the difference in size of which the Holland Lop is actually smaller than the Mini Lop despite the confusing aspect of their naming. Always remember that the Holland Lop is the smallest of the lops. To differentiate Holland lops from the other lop eared breeds Holland lop bunnies have a more apple shaped head than French or Mini Lops.
Additionally the Holland Lop bunny has shorter ears with lengths approximately 11-12 inches from tip to tip. Mini Lops are bigger than Holland Lops. The only way I would ever even consider it would be if the Holland Lop was a huge brood doe.
Even then Holland Lops are challenging sometimes with a Holland Lop buck because they carry the dwarf gene. And you couldnt sell pedigreed rabbits. Not that that would make any difference just my personal opinion on that.
You could always get a Holland Lop. Hollands and mini pops are not the same. Hollands are smaller and more temperamental.
I would recommend a mini lop any day to a beginner but Hollands are pretty good too. Mini lops are about 5 to 6 pounds while Hollands are 3 to 4. Do you know whats the difference between Holland Lop and Mini Lop.

Mini Lops bum bum different breed. Theres no such thing bum bum French Mini Lop or Holland Mini. Although my rabbits are Holland lops other rabbit breeds have the same colors though the precise color names and recognized colors may differ.
